Assassin’s Creed Origins And Far Cry 5 Won’t Feature Mini-Maps

The typically cluttered Ubisoft open world is so infamous at this point, it’s almost a meme. It’s something that people dread, and while we do appreciate having more things to do in a game world, we don’t appreciate having them shoved down our throats the way recent Ubisoft games have done. However, they seem to be moving in a different direction now. Assassin’s Creed: Origins and Far Cry 5 will both not include a mini-map. And there won’t be any radio towers in Far Cry 5. Hallelujah!

Both games seem to be reinventions of their respective franchises- to different extents, of course. Origins seems to be a much bigger step away from series conventions (and as it looks right now, one in the right direction) than Far Cry 5 does. But seeing both these games foregoing the mini-map (and the radio towers, in the case of Far Cry 5) seems to hint at more player freedom and a larger focus on exploration. That’s definitely good news.

Assassin’s Creed: Origins will be out later this year, in October, for the Xbox One, PS4 and PC, with Far Cry 5 launching on those same systems in February of 2018. Stay tuned to GamingBolt and we’ll keep bringing you more updates on both the games.

Thanks, Game Transfers!
